Sopa de Fotos

With our horrible satellite connection, I just don't have the patience to upload much. I'm gonna try here to put a bunch of pics from the last couple of weeks --
an afternoon at a friend's hacienda, high above the neighboring valley. They had a one-day-old calf and a one-month-old. Did you know that calves are immediately removed from their mother, never to be reunited until they're weaned. They pump the colostrum and milk from the mom to give to the baby. The little boy was sick; we don't know if he made it. The one month old was weaning and is a very friendly little cow. The horse trainer was there that day, and the Royal Spanish Riding School has nothing on this guy. He had the horses sit, and then got off and back on again. You could see the respect these horses had for him.
The orange shirted event was something we happened upon down the street - looked like a continuation of the Virgen de la Merced fiestas the week before. These fiestas get rowdy, and it's common at the end of the day (or night) to see a mom with a couple of toddlers and a baby on her back, trying to get her hammered husband home. We saw one who had fallen on the side of the road, and she couldn't get him moving...
And more glorious mountain shots....
